Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and guests in a timely manner, while adhering to recipes and specifications.
  • Welcome and greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner, and provide recommendations on drink selections when requested.
  • Take customer orders and process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including washing glassware, utensils, and equipment, and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels of liquor, beer, wine, and other supplies, and place orders as needed to ensure adequate stock.
  • Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and legal regulations, including responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Handle customer inquiries, comments, and complaints in a professional manner, and escalate issues to management when necessary.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure prompt and accurate service to customers.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of mixology techniques, beverage offerings, and customer service skills.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including setup and breakdown of the bar area, cash handling, and cleaning tasks.
  • Uphold company policies and standards for customer service, cleanliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Continuously strive to improve the guest experience by providing attentive service and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Serving food and beverage to members and guests.
  • Practicing responsible alcohol service.
  • Monitoring patrons for intoxication and arranging taxi service when appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

  • Service orientation - comfortable helping customers with high expectations.
  • Minimum 2 years bartending experience in quality establishments i.e. Clubs, restaurants, hotel.
  • Serving it right certificate.
  • Age 19+ for serving alcohol.
  • Sound knowledge of mixology and wine service
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Problem solver - ability to understand and resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide great customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable to both take direction and work unsupervised
  • Own transportation an asset as bus service is limited

ASSISTANT FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER

Capilano Golf & Country Club, in West Vancouver, is seeking an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to lead our front-of-house staff through our busy golf season and beyond. This position will report to, and work closely with, the Food & Beverage Manager, to maintain all member service operations.

Capilano Golf & Country Club is a private facility. The role focuses strongly on the service to a consistent clientele which is the membership. It requires an individual who can build strong, long-lasting relationships and offer different service styles to meet each member’s requests. The successful candidate will display an array of experiences and confidence.

This role requires an individual who can remain calm under stress & adjust on the fly while striving to go above and beyond at every opportunity.

Responsibilities:

· On floor presence is key to this role

· Assistance with all liquor, beer, and wine orders

· Timely delivery and accuracy of monthly beverage inventory

· Maintenance and oversight of meal services

· Assurance that service standards are met or exceeded with each guest/member

· Strengthening of business relationships with our suppliers

· Securing the clubhouse after nightly service

· Oversight of events to completion and success

Requirements

· Must have Serving It Right certificate

· Food Safe Level 1 preferred

· Gregarious and informed

· General knowledge/interest in wine and spirits

· Golf knowledge an asset

· Able to read and speak fluently in English

· Must be reliable and have a strong work ethic

· Position requires bending, standing, lifting, and walking constantly; long periods of time will be spent on your feet
