I have been teaching golf for the past 16 years but have studied the golf swing for over 25 years. I have been fortunate in my golf career to receive coaching from some of the finest coaches in the game, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Gabe Hjertstedt, Joe Mayo, Stan Utley and Chris Walkey and they have all contributed different ideas and methods which has given me great insight in understanding what to look for and how to help my students. Technology has evolved since I started teaching, the use of Trackman and video provide great visuals and data for me to show players what the root of their issues are and how to fix them. Being a past PGA of BC champion I have a strong understanding of what it takes to get the most out of your game and with that your overall golfing experience at Capilano.

I’ve been teaching / coaching golfers for the past seven years. Growing up and playing amateur golf across the UK, I worked with England Short game coach Gary Smith, and his influence along with many others enhanced my passion to teach golfers and give them the understanding of how to improve their own games. Over the last three years I’ve been working my through the TrackMan university training program, the use of TrackMan in coaching leaves nothing to chance and gives information that can directly help the golfer to improve. In 2019 I spent time with PGA Tour coach Jeff Smith. I was able to shadow him whilst he worked with PGA tour professionals and regular amateur golfers. I enjoy helping golfers improve theirs scores by working on the short game, this aspect of the game immediately lowers scores for each golfer and it’s an area that often gets overlooked. Short game is my biggest passion and you’ll often find me working hard on mine.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I played junior, amateur and college golf at the highest levels. I joined the PGA of Canada in 1985 and began my career as a golf instructor. In 1990 I qualified for the PGA Tour of Canada and chased my dream of playing golf for a living for the next five years. I have now been teaching golf for over 35 years and have been fortunate enough to have spent the last 12 here at Capilano as Head of Instruction. I am a strong believer in Professional Development and my teaching career has benefited from the mentor-ship of many of the top golf instructors in North America. I am certified in all of the latest 3D and motion capture technologies. My goal is to provide an outstanding teaching experience for all my students.
